Turkmenistan and Serbia to strengthen bilateral cooperation

The topic was raised within negotiations between the foreign ministers of the countries Rashid Meredov and Nikola Selakovic.

On June 7, Head of the MFA of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held video talks with his Serbian counterpart Nikola Selakovic. The parties discussed a number of issues related to expanding partnership in the politics, diplomacy, trade, economy and humanitarian sphere, as reported by the press office of the Turkmen ministry.

Meredov and Selakovic noted the importance of intensifying contacts between the foreign ministries. The parties agreed to develop a draft «Roadmap» for interaction.

Particular attention was paid to the prospects for building up relations in the textile industry, the gas chemical sector, the science and education, as well as within the international organizations.

During the videoconference, it was announced that Meredov would visit Serbia in July. According to Selakovic, important interstate agreements will be signed within the framework of the trip. The Serbian minister also noted the importance of creating an intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation.

The official stressed that Belgrade is interested in an adequate political and economic positioning in Central Asia.
