Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan discusses plans for cooperation with UN agencies

Rashid Meredov noted that multi-vector partnerships with the UN is one of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy priorities.

On April 18, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with the heads of the UN agencies and regional organisations accredited in the country. The meeting was held via videoconference, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.

The agenda focused on the National Priorities of Turkmenistan for the new cycle of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2026-2030 and stepping up efforts to achieve the SDGs. Furthermore, the parties discussed the prospects of Turkmenistan-UN cooperation.

Minister Meredov said multi-vector partnerships with the UN is one of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy priorities. The country is set to stay committed to strengthening cooperation in such areas as peace and security, transport and climate change, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The parties exchanged views on the interaction between Turkmenistan and the United Nations on human rights, preservation of cultural heritage and health and education development. They also discussed the schedule of upcoming events and meetings.
