Foreign ministers of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan hold political consultations

The interlocutors discussed the prospects for strengthening multi-vector cooperation between the two countries.

On April 16, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov took part in Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan inter-MFA consultations in Tashkent, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.

The parties noted the positive dynamics in the development of bilateral cooperation, emphasising that the practice of regular mutual high-level visits plays an important role in this process.

They discussed the current state and prospects of Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan political partnerships, including in the context of implementing bilateral agreements. The parties underscored the role of interparliamentary diplomacy and expressed mutual interest in promoting partnerships in this area.

An exchange of views on enhancing cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as transport and logistics, energy, industry and information security took place during the meeting.

Discussing key aspects of cultural interaction, the interlocutors underscored the importance of holding joint events to mark the 300th birth anniversary of the prominent Turkmen poet and philosopher Magtymguly Fraghi.
