President of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan Kobiljon Khushwakhtzoda had a meeting with the delegation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Tajikistan Ji Shumin in Tashkent. The parties discussed further strengthening bilateral cooperation in science and education, the press office of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan reported.
The agenda focused on inviting Tajik researchers to promote scientific research and present reports at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The parties supported the idea of exchanging experiences between Tajik and Chinese scientists.
They considered the opportunities for Tajik youth to participate in the ANSO and TWAS scholarship programmes. In the future, Tajik young scientists may take part in summer research camps in China.
In 2014, Tajikistan and China signed an agreement on cooperation in science. After this, the Research Centre for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia — the first-ever Tajikistan-China research project was established.
