Rahmon demands that Government ensure control and effective compliance with laws

The President focused on non-compliance with the laws on celebrations and upbringing of children.

Speaking at the government meeting, President Emomali Rahmon called on members of the Government and the public organisations to ensure control and effective compliance with the Laws On the regulation of traditions, celebrations and rituals and On the responsibility of parents for education and upbringing of children, the Khovar National News Agency of Tajikistan reported.

The President expressed concern about numerous violations of the requirements for events, in particular prohibited religious ceremonies. He emphasised the need for effective cooperation between government agencies and the public to ensure compliance with laws and proper upbringing of children.

«From 2016 to the present day, administrative proceedings have been brought against 19,480 people, including 1,170 teachers and 18,310 parents, for failure to comply with this law,» the President noted.

Emomali Rahmon instructed the Government to conduct awareness-raising activities and take measures to prevent extremism, superstition and violations of laws and improve public legal literacy.
