Bektenov meets with Head of People’s Government of China’s region

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Chinese guest discussed expanding investment cooperation, supported by new joint industrial projects.

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with Chairman of the People’s Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China Erkin Tuniyaz in Astana, the press office of the Prime Minister reported.

The meeting focused on the implementation of the interstate agreements. China is an important trading partner for Kazakhstan; bilateral trade totalled $31.5 billion last year. The Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China has a significant share in bilateral trade turnover. The two countries are strengthening investment cooperation as well.

«An important aspect of our interaction is the expansion of investment cooperation, supported by new joint industrial projects, including in the petrochemical and metallurgical industries,» Olzhas Bektenov noted.

The parties highlighted the prospects for diversifying trade relations and discussed various areas of cooperation, including transport and transit, culture, agriculture and tourism, and interregional interaction.
