Russia invests $100,000 in IT start-ups in Fergana Region

The group of Russian investors Bolshaya Medveditsa finances the development of IT and communications sectors, as well as digital economy acceleration projects.

The group of Russian investors Bolshaya Medveditsa will support new projects of IT entrepreneurs in Fergana Region of Uzbekistan. Bolshaya Medveditsa is offering an initial $100,000 grant as an incentive for local entrepreneurs, Head of Fergana Region Khairullo Bozorov said, the press office of the Fergana Region Administration was reported.

According to the local authorities, Russia’s investment will help Fergana Region become a major centre of IT services. The parties discussed implementing large-scale joint information technology projects in Fergana Region, attracting investment in local start-ups, financing industrial enterprises and setting up a major IT outsourcing service platform.

Projects on digital transformation in the construction and design sectors, the development of a foreign language learning platform for school children and the introduction of a remote testing system for graduates of educational institutions in the field of ICT will be implemented as part of partnerships. At the beginning, investors are set to invest up to $100,000 to test and evaluate the effectiveness of project proposals in Fergana Region.

Bolshaya Medveditsa unites the investment companies from the regions of Russia, including Siberia, the Urals and the Far East. They invest in new and promising projects on information and communication technologies, digital economy, e-commerce and online logistics and other industries.
