Tajikistan-EU trade reached $401.5 million in 2023

These figures were announced at the meeting of the Subcommittee on Tajikistan-European Union partnerships.

Tajikistan-European Union trade reached $401.5 million in 2023. The outcomes of economic cooperation were discussed at the meeting between Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Tajikistan Ashurboy Solihzoda and Head of Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan Raimundas Karoblis, the press office of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan reported.

The agenda covered key aspects of future cooperation. It was noted that the Republic is working on the draft Multi-annual Indicative Programme (MIP) for 2024-2027. However, the Tajik authorities have not yet determined the funding needs.

The participants of the meeting noted that the European Union earmarked EUR 91 million to implement the MIP first stage in 2021-2024.

Furthermore, the European Union provided EUR 45 million grant funding to Tajikistan to develop the energy sector. The parties are set to continue mutually beneficial partnerships in the future.
