Uzbekistan to get access to markets of Japan, Israel and the Dominican Republic

The Republic has completed negotiations with 11 members of the World Trade Organization.

The delegation of Uzbekistan signed the protocols on access to the markets of Israel, the Dominican Republic and Japan at the 13th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which was held in Abu Dhabi in late February, Gazeta.uz reported.

Special Representative of the President on WTO issues Azizbek Urunov signed the protocols with Japan and the Dominican Republic. Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Zhamshid Khojaev signed a protocol with Israel.

This marks the successful completion of negotiations with 11 WTO members. Market access agreements have been concluded with 9 countries, and approval procedures for a draft protocol with Thailand and Sri Lanka have started.

Speaking at the conference, Urunov noted that bilateral negotiations on Uzbekistan’s accession to WTO depend on the number of «interested» participants with whom negotiations on market access are underway. The traditional partners are showing interest in Uzbekistan.

As was reported, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said Uzbekistan must access WTO to increase Uzbekistan’s exports in the future. Accession to this organisation is among Uzbekistan’s priorities, the President said.
