Uzbekistan’s agricultural output has risen by 4.1% in a year

Agricultural exports reached $2 billion.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a meeting on the priorities and future plans of Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector in Tashkent. Last year, production in this sector of the economy increased by 4,1%, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

The President emphasised that past reforms have resulted in a significant increase in farm household income. The authorities noted that the cluster system is actively developing, and high-performance technologies are being adopted. The President highlighted the need to find new approaches to work and increase production in the agricultural sector that faces the shortage of land and water resources.

Agricultural output reached 426 trillion soums, and agricultural exports increased to about $2 billion. Last year, Uzbekistan harvested a record 3.7 million tonnes of cotton and 8 million tonnes of grain.

This year, it is planned to make concessional loans available to farmers and fully compensate for the costs of transportation and storage of wheat purchased with public funds to maintain the positive trend in grain farming.
