First Deputy Director of the National Agency of Prospective Projects of Uzbekistan (NAPP) Vyacheslav Pak spoke about the measures being taken to legalise betting shops and gambling in Uzbekistan at a press conference of the Agency of Information and Mass Communications, the press office of the National Agency reported.
He said this issue is the subject of fierce debate in society, and now it is reckless to say when a final decision will be taken.
Pak noted that President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Decree on legalisation of betting shops in 2019. However, this document was revoked by the new decree in April 2022. In 2023, the President instructed to resume the work on a regulatory framework for potential legalisation.
Vyacheslav Pak emphasised that now it is important to formulate a clear position, and the final decision will be taken after the proposals are considered.
