Akylbek Zhaparov instructs Kyrgyz officials to boost economic development

A government meeting on economic development of the regions was held in Bishkek.

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the President’s Administration of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov took part in the government meeting, which was attended on the fourth day by the plenipotentiaries of the President in the regions, mayors and heads of district state administrations and university rectors, the press office of the Government of the Republic reports.

Akylbek Zhaparov discussed the ongoing administrative and territorial reform and ongoing work in the financial and social sectors. He noted that every developed country has gone through similar reforms that contribute to economic development. The integration of territories will create specialized clusters and boost economic growth. However, this does not mean that administrative and territorial reforms will be a one-time process. If necessary, further reforms will be conducted.

Akylbek Zhaparov instructed the heads of local authorities to take measures to increase revenues to the local budget. The introduction of fiscal mechanisms will allow increasing the sales tax and enhancing activities in this sphere.

In conclusion, Akylbek Zhaparov reminded the heads of local authorities of their responsibility for maintaining order and cleanliness, creating jobs and attracting investment.
