Turkmen Foreign Minister and Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan discuss steps to promote partnerships

The meeting participants confirmed the importance of holding the first summit within the “Central Asia plus Japan” Dialogue.

On January 22, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan Yoshimasa Hayashi in Tokyo. The interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation in priority areas, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.

Meredov and Hayashi discussed strengthening Central Asia-Japan relations. The two sides confirmed the importance of holding the first summit within the «Central Asia plus Japan» Dialogue.

The Turkmen side highly evaluated the current level of political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Ashgabat and Tokyo.

The meeting participants noted with satisfaction the successful implementation of joint energy and gas chemical projects. They focused on the progressive development of trade and economic cooperation between the countries.

As was reported, the Turkmen delegation led by Rashid Meredov arrived in Japan for a working visit, which would last until January 23.
