Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan sows saxaul seeds on dried bottom of Aral Sea

The campaign to save the Aral Sea is supported not only by the authorities of Uzbekistan, but also by international organisations, including ERIELL Group, and citizens of the country.

In Uzbekistan, the sowing season will soon start on the dried bottom of the Aral Sea. Saxaul seeds will be spraying through airplanes provided by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Podrobno.uz reports.

Employees of the Main Department of Engineering Protection and Construction and Restoration of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have collected saxaul seeds that will be used during the sowing season. This measure is part of the state programme to create forest plantations on the bottom of the Aral Sea, aimed at mitigating the effects of the environmental disaster caused by the shrinking up of the sea.

«In recent years, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Forestry Agency have created huge forests of desert plants on the drained bottom,» the press office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan, headed by Major General Abdulla Kuldashev, reported.

The President of Uzbekistan expressed his support for the project to save the Aral Sea, proposing to thoroughly revise the programme and develop «road maps» for each regional project that will provide the amounts and sources of funding and agreed work schedules.
