The Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reform of the Republic of Kazakhstan published the current statistics on population of Kazakhstan. According to the Bureau, more than 20 million people are currently living in the country, Zakon.kz reports.
As of December 1, 2023, the total population of the country was 20,014,575 people. This number includes 12,431,220 urban citizens and 7,583,355 rural citizens and guests of the Republic.
«Since the beginning of 2023, the population has increased by 247,768 people, of which 239,422 people due to natural growth and 8,346 people due to migration,» the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan, headed by Maksat Turlubaev, reports.
The Bureau reported that the highest population growth rates were recorded in the following regions: in Astana, where the growth rate was over 5 percent, Almaty — about 3 percent and Mangistau Region — 2.4 percent.
