Tokayev speaks at meeting of Supreme Eurasian Economic Council

The global economy is expected to grow slowly in 2024.

A regular meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council was held in St. Petersburg, in which President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and the leaders of other countries — the SEEC Member States took part, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported in its Telegram channel.

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev focused on the challenges facing the countries in 2023 and shared the global economic growth forecast for 2024.

The Kazakh leader said experts provide forecasts of slow growth rates from 1.5 percent to 3 percent, and the Eurasian Economic Union, as an integral part of the world economy, may therefore be experiencing the impact of these indicators.

With the aim of mitigating this impact, the President of Kazakhstan proposed prioritising the promotion of technological cooperation among the EAEU Member States, which could strengthen the position of the Eurasian Economic Union in the international arena.
