President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic to spot price gouging at New Year’s fairs, which are held annually throughout the country, Podrobno.uz reports.
Mirziyoyev said unfair pricing practices should be prevented, emphasising the need to protect the interests of citizens.
The President noted that the most favourable conditions for large-scale cultural actions, including fairs, should be created in Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek leader said many cultural actions and entertainment activities will be held throughout the country on New Year’s Eve to celebrate 2024.
The President dwelt on electricity supply during the winter months, in particular in Tashkent, where high population density and high electricity consumption create problems. The President highlighted the importance of addressing these problems and providing adequate electricity supply.
