Parliamentarians discussed and adopted the Law on Amendments to Some Legislative Acts of Uzbekistan in its second reading at the plenary meeting of the Legal Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, led by Speaker Nuriddin Ismoilov. The main aim of this law is to tackle environmental problems in the Republic, particularly to control environmental pollution, nuz.uz reports.
This law envisages introducing amendments to the legal acts that restrict or suspend the activities of enterprises and organisations that violate environmental regulations for a period not exceeding 10 working days. The Government of Uzbekistan believes that these measures can help improve the environmental situation in the country.
According to parliamentarians, the increasing scale of construction and the growth of urbanization have a great impact on the environment in Uzbekistan. They noted that pollutant emissions have increased significantly. The authorities of the Republic are adopting the new law to prevent environmental problems.
