Uzbekistan and UAE mutually recognize driving licences

The agreement, reached during the meeting between the ministers of internal affairs of the two countries, will take effect in January next year.

A state delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Minister of Internal Affairs, Lieutenant General Pulat Bobojonov has visited the United Arab Emirates recently. The Memorandum of Understanding on mutual recognition and exchange of driving licenses was signed between the authorities during the meeting with Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, the press office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Memorandum Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The Memorandum allows holders of domestic driving citizens of the two countries to drive a car in another country. The only exceptions are those who stay for a long term. The Memorandum will take effect on January 27, 2024.

The parties discussed urgent issues of practical cooperation, including cooperation in combating organized crime, terrorism, extremism, human trafficking and cybercrime. The agenda included aspects of professional training in these areas and exchange of experience and identified areas for further interaction.
