Uzbekistan implements project to convert used tyres to fuel oil

This initiative will help solve a serious environmental problem in the Republic, as tyre dumping is very harmful to the environment.

Uzbekistan is launching the unique project for conversion of used tyres to fuel oil; equipment for the enterprise was purchased in China. It is capable of processing up to 15 tonnes of used tyres per day, by Podrobno.uz. reported.

In previous years, a brick factory owner in Uzbekistan used to look for alternative ways to develop his business. Natural gas used at the enterprise was redirected to meet the needs of the population and social facilities in the country. The entrepreneur decided to produce fuel oil and purchased special equipment from a Chinese company to convert used tyres to fuel oil.

This project has the potential to help solve the problem of illegal storage of used tyres that pollute the environment.

In August this year, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the energy companies and organisations to import natural gas so that underground reserves of this resource would reach 3.5 billion cubic metres by 2023. He emphasised the need for managers to switch to an energy-efficient mode of operation to ensure stability in the electric power system during the winter months.
