Kazakhstan-Georgia trade reaches $190 million

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov and Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili held talks in Almaty.

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov and Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili discussed key issues of trade, transport and logistics cooperation during the meeting in Almaty. The interlocutors reaffirmed their readiness to strengthen effective cooperation, the press office of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reported.

Alikhan Smailov stressed that Georgia is a reliable and important partner of Kazakhstan in the South Caucasus. Over the past six months, bilateral trade has grown by 30 percent, reaching $190 million. The Intergovernmental Commission is working towards boosting the trade turnover between the two countries.

The interlocutors noted the intensification of transit and transport cooperation between the two countries. The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan said partnerships in the development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route is an important component of bilateral relations. In 2023, the traffic on this route has grown by 77 percent and reached 1.3 million tonnes.

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan stressed that interstate agreements stimulate the development of this corridor. Irakli Garibashvili confirmed that Georgia is ready to further strengthen bilateral cooperation with Kazakhstan.
