Kazakhstan opens Consulate General in Yekaterinburg

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov and Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Yevgeny Kuyvashev attended the opening ceremony.

On July 10, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov took part in the opening ceremony of the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the capital of Ural Federal District during his working visit to Yekaterinburg, the press office of the Government of Kazakhstan reports.

More than 90,000 ethnic Kazakhs, including young people from Kazakhstan who study at the universities in the Russian Federation, reside in Ural Federal District. The opening of the Consulate General in Yekaterinburg will contribute to expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, economy, culture and education and improve the quality of consular services.

The Consulate of Kazakhstan in Yekaterinburg will provide services to the residents of Ural Federal District — Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan and Tyumen Regions and Perm Krai.

Alikhan Smailov and Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Yevgeny Kuyvashev visited the Consulate General building. The Prime Minister said Kazakhstan is promoting multi-vector sustainable cooperation with almost all the subjects of the Russian Federation. Enhanced ties with the industrialised regions of Ural will open up new prospects for partnerships between the two closest neighbours — Russia and Kazakhstan.
