Uzbekistan has received over $20 million from South Korea

Part of these funds will be used to equip laboratories and border checkpoints with modern devices.

South Korea donated more than $20 million to Uzbekistan for the strengthening of Uzbekistan’s phytosanitary capacity, landscaping of cities and advanced training of local specialists, the Dunyo News Agency reports.

The Korea Forestry and Technology Development Agency (KOICA) has concluded a fund transfer agreement for 2023-2028. Part of the funds has been used to improve the plant quarantine system, modernise quarantine stations, train staffs, develop training manuals and purchase equipment to prevent contamination of products by pests.

The funds will be used to improve the skills of management personnel and specialists in South Korea, where they will be trained. The rest of the funds is to be used to promote research activities and purchase equipment for regional laboratories, border checkpoints and the Research Institute for Plant Quarantine and Protection.
