Tokayev receives Speaker of lower chamber of Parliament of Uzbekistan

The President noted strong friendship, good neighbourliness, common cultural values and harmony in interstate relations.

On February 9, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with Chairman of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Nurdinjon Ismoilov. The interlocutors discussed the agenda of bilateral relations, the press office of Akorda reported.

The leader of Kazakhstan emphasised that the countries as the neighbours in the region had established substantial and harmonious relations based on long-standing friendship, good neighbourliness and common cultural values, exemplifying interstate cooperation.

In this context, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev positively evaluated the outcomes of the state visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kazakhstan in December 2021. The President expressed belief that the decisions taken in December would contribute to transforming Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan partnerships into a mutually beneficial alliance.

The President of Kazakhstan emphasised that the two states, comprehensively practicing the ideas of brotherhood and reliable collaboration, attach significant importance to promoting bilateral interaction. Bilateral relations cover a wide spectrum, including political, trade, economic, humanitarian and cultural spheres. Parliamentary diplomacy occupies a special place, the President said.

The Uzbek parliamentarian expressed gratitude to the leader of Kazakhstan for the meeting and conveyed the warm greetings of the President of Uzbekistan.
