On January 10, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodik Safoev held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Yoshinori Fujiyama, the press office of the Senate reported.
The agenda of the meeting focused on promoting Uzbekistan-Japan partnerships in the trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian sectors, as well as at the interparliamentary level. The interlocutors noted the positive results of multi-vector cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan over 30 years of diplomatic relations and emphasised that the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Japan in 2019 gave new impetus to bilateral cooperation.
The initiative to intensify cooperation between the Oliy Majlis and the Parliament of Japan was put forward during the meeting.
This year, it is planned to hold a series of events, including an inter-parliamentary conference involving parliamentarians and representatives of key ministries and departments and leading Japanese companies, to mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Japan.
