Bishkek and Islamabad discuss current situation in Afghanistan

The interlocutors highlighted the importance of ensuring security in the region against the background of the situation in Kabul.

On October 22, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic Talatbek Masadykov met with National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Moeed Yusuf. The parties discussed the situation in and around Afghanistan and regional security issues, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The participants in the meeting highlighted the need to unite the global efforts to ensure regional security against the background of the situation in Afghanistan.

The security officials of the two countries called for the earliest possible stabilization of the military-political situation in this country.

As was reported, the meeting was organised with the assistance of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Islamabad.

Kyrgyzstan has repeatedly stated that it hopes that a new inclusive government with a state structure acceptable to the people of this country will be formed.

After the Taliban (the organisation is banned in Russia) had seized power in Afghanistan, the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Afghanistan was one of the few that continued to work and was not evacuated.
