The 2026 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) will be held in Uzbekistan, Nuz.uz reports.
This year, the Olympiad has taken place in Hungary. The competitions were held from August 28 to September 3, and the Uzbek delegation, led by Deputy General Director of IT Park Uzbekistan Mikhliyo Muksinova, took part in them.
346 students from 89 countries of the world performed at the Olympiad. Following the results of two stages, two participants from Uzbekistan won bronze medals for the first time. The winners are the senior schoolchildren from Andijan and Tashkent.
The delegation made a presentation of the potential of Uzbekistan to the IOI Commission as part of the competitions. The official announcement that Uzbekistan will host the International Olympiad in 2026 was made at the closing ceremony.
