Uzbek and Korean universities forge ties

The Governor of Chungcheongnam-do Province noted that employment opportunities for Uzbek students are now being created.

On May 7, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan Kongratbay Sharipov and Governor of Chungcheongnam-do Province Kim Tae-heum held a meeting in the capital of Uzbekistan. The meeting focused on aspects of academic and scientific partnerships between universities of the two countries, the press office of the Government of Uzbekistan reported.

Chairman of the Korea-Uzbekistan Business Association Keon-chang Kim, Director of the Chungcheongnam-do Province Department of Investment and Industry Yong-Jin Yoon and President of Soonchunhyang University Kim Seung-woo took part in the meeting.

The parties agreed to promote student exchange programmes and include Uzbek teachers and professors in the internship programmes at Korean universities. Sharipov informed the guests about ongoing education and science reforms in Uzbekistan.

It was reported that extensive changes in the legislation of Chungcheongnam-do Province, particularly related to work-study schemes, are expected. In the future, students from Uzbekistan may work while studying at universities in Chungcheongnam-do Province.
