On January 3, President of Kazakhstan focused on the important role of the Commonwealth in supporting interstate cooperation. He also presented the main areas of further cooperation of the CIS under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan, the press office of the CIS Executive Committee reported.
The CIS bodies are chaired on an annual rotational basis by each member state in accordance with the decision of the Council of Heads of State of April 2, 1999.
The President of Kazakhstan emphasised the importance of establishing a structure that contributed to maintaining contacts among the states and enhancing disaster preparedness in the Commonwealth.
He focused on developing effective instruments and approaches of cooperation enabling to address social and economic issues.
The leader of Kazakhstan dwelt on the common goals of boosting cooperation in trade, economy, security, healthcare and environment. It is also planned to hold a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government in May 2022 and a CIS summit in October.
