Forest Conservation and Protection Service set up in Kazakhstan

Currently, 15 republican civil protection services operate in the country.

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov signed the Resolution on the establishment the Forest Conservation and Protection Service under the Ministry of Ecology, the information resource of the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers reports.

The new body will aim its activities at improving the operational efficiency and emergency preparedness of forestry institutions, including wildfire emergency.

The new Service is expected to contribute to improving interagency coordination in forest fire management and response and provide improved technical equipment and personnel that will ensure effective wildfire prevention and suppression.

Currently, 15 republican civil protection services operate in Kazakhstan that support the sustainable functioning of various spheres of life of the country. These are the Fire Service, the Medical Service, the Chemical Protection Service, the Engineering Service, the Radiation Protection Service and the National Hydrometeorology Service, among others.
