In Kyrgyzstan, the national flag with the new design was raised for the first time. The ceremony took place in the central square of Bishkek, Ala-Too, RIA Novosti reports.
The national anthem was played during the flag raising ceremony, which was attended by several high officials of the country and the authors of the new flag, Zhusup Mataeva and Bekbosun Zhaichybekova.
«Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Head of the President’s Administration Akylbek Zhaparov took part in the ceremony of raising the flag of the Kyrgyz Republic on the central Ala-Too Square,» the press office of the Cabinet of Ministers reported on the event, in which Akylbek Zhaparov took part.
The new flag differs from the previous one in that the wavy rays around tunduk have become straight, which, according to the parliamentarians, who have initiated the law, made it more like the rays of the sun. The law was signed by President Sadyr Japarov in December 2023. The law aimed to correct an error in the previous flag and make it more relevant to national culture.
