On May 19, Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development under the Government of Tajikistan Kamoliddin Muminzod met with Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Reshetnikov during his working visit to Kazan. The interlocutors discussed the prospects for promoting bilateral cooperation in the tourism industry, the press office of the RF Ministry of Economic Development reports.
Reshetnikov said the current intergovernmental agreement on tourism cooperation has given an additional incentive to expand Russia-Tajikistan ties.
«Tajikistan is our important partner and a promising destination to boost the flow of tourists,» the Minister said.
As reported, the flow of tourists between the countries is increasing now. Last year, more than 200,000 tourists from Russia visited Tajikistan. This is facilitated by the visa free regime and the intense air traffic between the countries.
The Tajik side noted that the Government of Tajikistan views the tourism sector as a priority sector and takes comprehensive measures to develop it.
Muminzod highlighted the tremendous tourism potential of Tajikistan that is able to compete with other countries in the region.
