Kazakh boxers win five medals at World Championships

Four gold and one silver medals are the result of the performance of the Kazakhstan boxing team at the World Championships in Tashkent.

The athletes from Kazakhstan won five — four gold and one silver medals at the 22nd World Boxing Championships, which ended in Tashkent, the press office of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.

Mahmud Sabyrkhan (54 kg), Aslanbek Shymbergenov (71 kg), Sanzhar Tashkenbay (under 48 kg) and Nurbek Oralbay (under 80 kg) brought gold to the national team.

Mahmud Sabyrkhan beat a representative of Uzbekistan Oybek Juraev in a duel. Aslanbek Shymbergenov won the bout with a host of the ring Saijamshid Jafarov, and Nurbek Oralbay fought with an ethnic Kazakh boxer from China Toktarbek Tanatkan.

Sanjar Tashkenbay, who performed in the lightest weight category, was the first to win a gold medal for Kazakhstan at the championships in the bout with an opponent from Georgia Sahil Alakhverdovi.

Dulat Bekbauov (67 kg), who lost in a fight with a representative of Uzbekistan Asadkhuj Muidinkhujaev, won a silver medal.

The athletes from Kazakhstan performed in all the thirteen weight categories of the   World Boxing Championships in Tashkent. The Kazakhstan national team replicated its success after 10 years, when the boxers from Kazakhstan won four gold medals at the 2013 World Championships in Almaty.

The International Boxing Association will award $200,000 to the gold medallists of the XXII World Boxing Championships in Tashkent, $100,000 to the silver medallists and $50,000 to the bronze medallists.
