Centre for Afghanistan studies in Bishkek proposed to be opened

Kazakbaev presented the position of his country on a number of issues in Stockholm.

On December 2, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbayev delivered a speech on the situation in Afghanistan at the plenary session of the 28th OSCE Ministerial Council, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The emphasis was placed on the role and importance of developing the OSCE Academy in Bishkek in the current context of regional security. The world community was informed about the successful implementation of agreements on training Afghan youth at the Academy.

In this regard, Kazakbayev proposed to open a Centre for Afghanistan studies at the Academy, which would be an independent academic analytical centre for regional and international experts to study the ongoing processes in this country.

The Minister focused on maintaining and enhancing trade and economic contacts and called on the Participating States to promote greater connectivity in the OSCE area by ensuring the free and safe movement of people, goods and services across borders.
