President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping during his visit to the capital of China, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The leader of Uzbekistan thanked Xi Jinping for the invitation and congratulated him and the people of China on the Opening Ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics.
The interlocutors discussed a number of aspects of bilateral cooperation in key areas, noting the positive dynamics of Uzbekistan-China partnerships in the trade and economic sectors, including a significant trade volume growth last year, as well as an increase in China’s investment in the industrial, energy and information technology sectors, which amounted to US$ 9 billion.
Uzbekistan and China vigorously intensify cooperation in the spheres of ecology, green economy, digital transformation, e-commerce and artificial intelligence and exchange experience in the fight against poverty and corruption.
The interlocutors agreed to work together in the education, healthcare, tourism, cultural and humanitarian sectors and ensure the efficient functioning of transport and logistics corridors.
The leaders of the two states exchanged views on some issues of regional and international politics, including the Afghan problem.
