Demonstrators meet with Japarov at Administration Building

Demonstrators said they had been unable to draw up their residence documents for 15 years.

On November 18, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic met with the residents of the Zher-Yntymak residential area, located near the southwestern cemetery in the capital, who had gathered for a demonstration at the entrance to the Administration Building, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The residents had gathered to demand the legitimization of their plots of land, since they had been unable to get ‘red books’ for their lands for 15 years.

According to the demonstrators, this residential area contains 1,300 houses, in which 5,000-10,000 people without registration reside. They ask the authorities to legitimise their residence so that they could receive certificates and use public services.

Japarov assured that he would instruct the officials to visit the residential area, examine the issue and report on the situation. An appropriate decision will be made after the issue is examined.

He said that everything was being done to address the problems of the majority of the population related to the earliest legitimization of their residence and plots of land.

The President noted that demonstrations would not help speed up or resolve such issues.
