Representatives of Turkmenistan took part in the inaugural Women in Transport Network (WiT) conference for Europe and Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. The conference was held in Istanbul, the Orient website reported.
The participants reviewed the proposed main components, which the network will be built on, and the regional initiatives to identify opportunities for cooperation. The latest research findings on the current situation concerning the extent of women’s representation in the global and regional transport sector workforce were presented.
WiT aims to empower women across all facets and levels of the transport sector in Europe and Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, with an emphasis on medium- and high-skilled jobs and managerial positions. The network is to engage with the public and private sectors, development partners, academia and interested physical entities.
