President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev led an extended government meeting, the Akorda Telegram channel reported.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, members of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of the National Bank, akims of regions and large cities, heads of government agencies and top managers of national companies attended the meeting.
The President identified the key areas of work: economic diversification, infrastructure development, digital transformation, tax and budget reforms, support for the agro-industrial, energy, education and health sectors. Particular attention was paid to the efficiency of the state apparatus and the need for austerity measures to save budget funds.
«We need to have a clear strategy of action to address the major challenges of the new era,» Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev emphasised.
The Prime Minister reported on the social and economic development indicators for 2024 and plans for 2025. The approaches to reforming the fiscal policy and the monetary strategy and the work done by the Samruk-Kazyna Fund were presented. The akims reported on the current situation in the regions.
