Chairman of the National Commission on the State Language of Kyrgyzstan Melis Murataliev put forward an initiative to introduce education in the Kyrgyz language at higher educational institutions in the country. He made this statement at the meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Law and State System of Zhogorku Kenesh, Sputnik reports.
Murataliev emphasised that most students are taught in the Russian language, which leads to challenges in working at government agencies that maintain the document flow in the Kyrgyz language.
To solve this problem, the Commission proposed that the Ministry of Education adopt training programmes in the Kyrgyz language, as is done in schools.
He noted the importance of a gradual transition and proposed starting with lectures in the state language to improve students’ proficiency in the Kyrgyz language. The Chairman of the Commission said these measures will help improve the Kyrgyz language skills of civil servants.
