President of Uzbekistan congratulates Alexander Lukashenko on his victory in election

The leaders of the two countries discussed the prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in all sectors.

On January 26, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Alexander Lukashenko on his victory in the presidential election in Belarus. In the telephone conversation, he noted that the election results and high voter turnout illustrate the trust of the Belorussian people in their leader and his political course, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

The leaders discussed the current state of Uzbek-Belarusian relations and the progress of the implementation of the agreements reached during Lukashenko’s visit to Uzbekistan in February last year.

In 2024, bilateral trade exceeded $700 million. Particular attention was paid to stepping up joint projects in industry, strengthening interregional contacts and fostering cultural exchange. 

Alexander Lukashenko, who has been serving as President of Belarus since 1994, won the election with 86,82% of the vote.
