Turkmenistan improves legal framework for diplomatic service

Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the ongoing work.

On January 24, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov reported to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the ongoing work to improve the legal framework for diplomatic service and further strengthen the regulatory and legal framework for international cooperation, Turkmenistan: Golden Age eNewspaper reported.

In this context, the Minister put forward the proposals for the development of the Regulations on the State Protocol of Turkmenistan and the provisions On Permanent Missions of Turkmenistan to International Organisations and On the Press Attaché at the Diplomatic Mission of Turkmenistan Abroad.

Meredov proposed drafting the documents that will be signed during the visits of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov abroad and foreign leaders to Turkmenistan. The Minister announced plans to hold an interdepartmental working meeting in February to improve the legal framework for interparliamentary relations.

The President noted that the main task of Turkmenistan’s diplomatic service is to establish interaction with foreign countries and international organisations, focusing on the need to further improve its legal framework. The President approved the proposals and gave specific instructions to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
