Plans for the implementation of the housing renovation programme were discussed at the meeting chaired by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In 2025, it is planned to build houses with 20,000 apartments and replace the old housing stock with modern apartment buildings under the programme, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The renovation will improve land use efficiency 4-5 times and cut utility costs in half.
The President noted that the programme will not only improve infrastructure, but also create new jobs, expand the range of trade services and improve the quality of life of the people.
The projects in Jizzakh, Margilan, Kokand, Shakhrisabz, Karshi and several districts of Tashkent were completed successfully. The President ordered this practice be applied to other regions of the country to speed up the resettlement of residents from dilapidated and decrepit housing.
