The President of Uzbekistan reviewed the action plans for the improvement of the quality of health services at the presentation of healthcare equipment proposals. At least 100 billion soums are allocated annually from the state budget for these purposes. Last year, an additional $200 million in investment and $94 million in grants were attracted, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The result was expanded access to high-tech equipment, including tomographs and angiographs, which were installed at regional and district hospitals. In 2023, 200 billion soums were allocated for modernisation; it is planned to attract $370 million in foreign investment.
The planned projects include the purchase of equipment for maternity hospitals with financial support from the Asian Development Bank, the installation of cardiac care equipment at healthcare facilities in Karakalpakstan and Khorezm with financial support from KfW Bank and the construction of a training centre in Termez.
The President noted the importance of training specialists to operate new equipment and effectively using equipment. To this end, outsourcing and public-private partnership projects will be implemented to enhance operational efficiency at healthcare facilities.
