President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by 2030. Speaking at the summit in Abu Dhabi, he noted that 2025 has been declared the Year of Environmental Protection and «Green» Economy in the country, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The Yashil Makon Programme envisages greening at least 30% of urban areas and fully cover agriculture with water conservation technologies.
The power facilities with a total capacity of 9.6GW, including 3.5 GW of solar and wind energy, have been built.
Over 50 major energy projects worth over $26 billion are being implemented jointly with foreign partners. According to preliminary estimates, Uzbekistan has a capacity of 500 GW of solar power, 100 GW of wind power and 10 GW of hydropower.
