Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held talks with his Kyrgyz counterpart Jeenbek Kulubayev in Astana, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reports.
The parties discussed key aspects of bilateral interaction, including political, economic, investment, water, energy, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
«For us, Kyrgyzstan is not only a reliable ally, but also a good neighbour and brotherly people, with whom we have centuries-old ties of friendship, common spiritual values and shared Turkic roots,» Murat Nurtleu said.
Particular attention was paid to expanding trade. Kazakhstan is one of Kyrgyzstan’s three top trading partners, and bilateral trade consistently exceeds $1.5 billion. The ministers agreed to increase it to $3 billion, emphasising the importance of launching the Industrial Trade and Logistics Complex and holding business forums.
They discussed the prospects in the energy, transport and logistics sectors and recognised cultural and humanitarian cooperation as the foundation for long-term relations. The parties confirmed that they are ready to interact within international organisations and promote joint initiatives.
