On December 26, the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC) held a meeting in Leningrad Region. It brought together the leaders of the EAEU Member States and observer states and the leadership of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev took part in the narrow and expanded meetings to discuss the priorities of cooperation within the Union.
The agenda covered key aspects of economic integration, including the approval of the areas of EAEU’s international activity until 2025. The participants approved amendments to the Union Treaty on trade defence measures and adopted an agreement on a single customs transit system with third countries.
The status of an observer state in the EAEU was awarded to Iran during the meeting. A report on the liberalisation of services in the single market was presented. Belarus that will assume the presidency of the EAEU in 2025 will host the next summit in May.
