On December 25, the leaders of 7 CIS Member States participated in an informal meeting in St. Petersburg. The leaders of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan — Vladimir Putin, Alexander Lukashenko, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, Sadyr Japarov, Emomali Rahmon, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the event, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
They discussed the outcomes of cooperation in 2024 and set key tasks for the coming period.
The major issues under discussion included the promotion of intraregional trade and the elimination of existing barriers for economic cooperation.
The participants reviewed new areas of partnerships, including the development of engineering education, digital technologies, creative economy and green energy. They exchanged views on current regional security issues and the international agenda.
