Leaders of Russia and Tajikistan discuss prospects for cooperation

The parties note that bilateral cooperation in all the spheres shows excellent dynamics.

On December 24, President Vladimir Putin and President Emomali Rahmon held a meeting in Leningrad Region to discuss the progress of cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan. In 2024, bilateral trade has reached $1.79 billion, or has grown by 20%, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.

Emomali Rahmon emphasised that Russia remains the main strategic partner of Tajikistan.

Vladimir Putin noted constructive relations and confirmed Russia’s top position in trade and economic cooperation with the Republic.

Particular attention was paid to educational projects. The Russian language is taught at 4,500 schools throughout Tajikistan, and it is planned to increase the number of Russian teachers to 82. Russia is ready to increase the admission quota for Tajik students, which is currently 1,000 places and the highest among the countries.
