President of the Republic Emomali Rahmon was elected Chairman of the Committee for the next 3 years at the 24th reporting and election meeting of the National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan. His candidacy received unanimous support from all the 30 sports federations, Sputnik reports.
The NOC’s leaders also include Deputy Chairmen — First Deputy Chairman of the Tennis Federation Zulfikor Gulahmadzoda and Chairman of the Athletics Federation Dilshod Nazarov. Muhammadsho Abdullozoda from the Swimming Federation was elected Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee.
The participants reviewed the work done to develop sports infrastructure in the country. Today, 11,000 sports facilities, including 126 stadiums, over 7,600 sports grounds, over 2,200 gyms, 97 swimming pools and 88 fitness and wellness centres, operate in Tajikistan. The participants approved the strategic plans and budget of the Committee for the coming year.
