On December 7, the Doha Forum took place in the capital of Qatar, at which President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev delivered a speech as a guest of honour, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reported.
The theme of this year’s event, which is held annually since 2003, is Diplomacy, Dialogue and Diversity. It focused on geopolitics, economy, new technologies, artificial intelligence, energy and food security.
Tokayev took part in the special session on international security and the role of middle powers in global politics.
The President emphasised that despite the difficulties encountered by the United Nations in its activities, this organisation continues to be a key instrument in maintaining global peace and security.
«The UN as a universal organisation is absolutely necessary for humanity, there is no alternative,» Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said.
He noted that great powers are not always able to ensure global stability, which causes concern among many states. In his opinion, reforming the UN and the active involvement of the middle powers, including Kazakhstan, can help improve the situation and contribute to strengthening regional and global security.
